Bridging the Gap: Humanity Amplify Tackles Reproductive Health Challenges in Magu

In Tanzania Currently, however, reproductive health challenges abound. Over a fifth of married women have an unmet need for family planning, and fertility is high, at 4.8 births per woman. One in 83 women will die of a pregnancy-related cause in her lifetime. Humanity Amplify Organization recently conducted a technical workshop targeting ward councillors, the Council Director, and district officers for GBV and reproductive health at CHMT in Magu. This workshop utilized locally available data sourced in collaboration with Council Health management Team on the incidence and burden of unsafe abortion, highlighting its significant impact on maternal mortality and other neglected consequences. The data-driven dialogue, supported by the council leadership and health team focal persons, marked the beginning of a crucial conversation that are rarely talked in such engagement forums.

The workshop enlightened ward councillors to recognize the scientific gaps in current prqctices and policies, leading to the development of actionable plans to advocate for safer reproductive health practices and address unsafe abortion among adolescent girls and young women.
